Which toilet paper should I choose?
Which toilet paper suits your washroom best depends on the dispenser. The most common toilet roll holders are listed below. If you need more information, please contact us by e-mail.
1. Toilet paper for the traditional roll holder:
This type of toilet paper is found in almost every household and is still widely used in businesses. The holder is usually no more than a bar or spindle over which you slide the roll.
2. Centre-pull toilet paper:
Centre-pull toilet paper (also called dop roll) is recognisable by the plastic core that protrudes slightly from the paper (see picture).
3. Coreless toilet paper:
Coreless toilet paper is easy to recognise: there is no large hole in the middle of the roll. The advantage of this type is that no plastic or cardboard core is left over when the roll is finished.
4. Mini and maxi jumbo toilet paper:
Jumbo rolls come in different sizes. The core is the same, but the number of metres on the roll determines whether it is a mini or maxi jumbo roll. At first glance the rolls look like a traditional toilet roll, but they are larger and the paper is wound more tightly. A mini jumbo roll holds about 180 metres, a maxi jumbo roll about 380 metres.
5. Folded toilet paper:
Folded toilet paper (also called bulk pack) consists of tissue-like sheets dispensed from a holder. Because the sheets are limited in size, the risk of blockages is smaller. Folded toilet paper can only be used in a bulk pack dispenser.
Sustainable production
Toilet paper is often made from recycled paper. This is soaked and, in many production steps, cleaned, filtered and centrifuged to remove contaminants and leave only the fibres. The clean fibres are naturally white and therefore do not need bleaching. Large rolls of single-ply paper are made from these fibres, which are then cut and wound onto a toilet roll in two or three plies. There is also toilet paper made exclusively from 100% virgin fibre. The combination of strength and softness is achieved by blending long and short fibres.
