Propylene Glycol
What is propylene glycol used for?
Propylene glycol is used in the refrigeration and HVAC industry and in the food processing industry as a coolant in cooling systems. This glycol makes your chiller or freezer last longer and protects it against rust and limescale. Without glycol the service life of your equipment is considerably shorter.
Applications of propylene glycol
Undiluted or diluted coolant based on propylene glycol is suitable for use in virtually all types of cooling systems. Huchem glycols contain additives that prevent rust and limescale formation, which significantly extends the service life of the equipment and safeguards the continuity of the process.
The fluid can be added without any problem to systems that already contain a glycol-based coolant. Axti Temp P is colourless and transparent as standard, but can also be supplied in blue and red (on request).
Instructions for use
At a new start-up, drain the entire system and clean and flush it thoroughly. Then add the required amount of glycol. Let the system come up to operating temperature slowly and allow the air bubbles to escape. Top up the system to the required level if necessary.
Mixing ratio
- 20% product, 80% demineralised water = protection to -6°C
- 30% product, 70% demineralised water = protection to -13°C
- 40% product, 60% demineralised water = protection to -21°C
- 50% product, 50% demineralised water = protection to -33°C
- 60% product, 40% demineralised water = protection to -57°C

Please note: glycols that are not part of our standard range, such as specific percentages, cannot be returned. Glycols mixed with a dye cannot be returned either.
