Product description, de-icing salt 25 kg:
De-icing salt is a thawing agent. It lowers the freezing point of water. The salt mixes with the frozen water (ice or snow) to form brine. Because brine has a lower freezing point than water, it is less likely to freeze. As a result, slippery conditions are less likely to develop.
Directions for use:
Pour the de-icing salt into a dry bucket or container. Take a handful of salt at a time and spread it evenly over the surface you want to clear of ice.

When to spread:
To prevent or eliminate the dangers of slippery conditions, salt can be spread at different times:
- Preventive spreading: when the weather forecast turns bad, salt can be spread preventively to counter the first signs of slipperiness. If the temperature does not drop too far and precipitation remains limited, preventive spreading is usually sufficient. By spreading salt on vulnerable surfaces in advance, snow and freezing rain are less able to bond to the surface.
- Curative spreading: spreading from the moment snow or freezing rain has started, with the aim of keeping the surface passable or making it passable again as quickly as possible.
- Repressive spreading: spreading after the surface has already become slippery. This also works preventively against future precipitation.
