Information
What is demineralized water?
Tap water is generally not suitable for use in laboratories or technical installations. Demineralized water, or demineralized water, has all the salts, or minerals, found in normal tap water removed.
What is the difference between distilled and demineralized water?
Distilled water is obtained by boiling the water and collecting the condensation. This is an intensive and expensive process that requires a lot of energy. Demineralized water, on the other hand, is filtered. This process removes limescale and minerals from the water. Demineralized water is much cheaper than distilled water because less energy is used in its production.
Applications of demineralized water
For most applications, demineralized water is an excellent alternative to distilled water. However, we always recommend using distilled water for medical purposes. Some examples of applications for demineralized water:
- Rinse water, test water
- Heating systems
- Process water
- Sprinkler systems
- Mixing glycols
- Window cleaning
- Humidifiers
- Fireplaces
- Steam irons
- Batteries
